What is ECG Monitoring?
An ECG test, or electrocardiogram, is a simple, non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of your heart.
Will I feel anything?
The test is painless. There is no electricity or shock delivered - it's purely a recording device.
How is a ECG test performed?
- Small electrodes (sticky patches) are placed on your chest, arms, and legs.
- These detect electrical signals generated by your heart as it beats.
- The signals are recorded and printed as waves on graph paper or displayed on a screen.
Is ECG testing bulk billed at 4Cyte Pathology?
Yes.
At 4Cyte Pathology, ECG testing is bulk billed (no charge to patient) for all patients with a valid Medicare referral.
How do I get Tested at 4Cyte Pathology?
Firstly, you need a referral from your doctor.
Secondly, you simply attend one of 4Cyte Pathology's patient centres that provide a walk in ECG service (click here to find a walk in centre near you).
No appointment is necessary for an ECG.
The test normally takes about 10 minutes to perform the recording.
4Cyte then sends the recording to specialist cardiologists for review and reporting.
Does 4Cyte Pathology accept any Referral Form?
Yes.
4Cyte Pathology accepts all referral forms.
What happens to the results of my testing?
Your ECG recordings will be sent to a specialist cardiologist and cardiac physiologists for review. 4Cyte will then send the specialists report and findings to your referring doctor.
Your results will normally be available to your doctor in c.24 hours of your ECG being conducted.
You must discuss the results of your ECG testing with your referring doctor.
