A 24-hour blood pressure monitor (also called ambulatory blood pressure monitoring or ABPM) is a test where your blood pressure is measured automatically at regular intervals over 24 hours,
including while you sleep.
The test provides a more accurate picture of your blood pressure throughout your daily routine, and detects patterns,
such as white coat hypertension (high BP only at the doctor's office) or masked hypertension (normal at the clinic, high at home).

The test is painless. There is no electricity or shock delivered - it's purely a recording device.

- A small cuff is worn on your upper arm.
- The cuff is connected to a portable monitor worn on your belt or over the shoulder.
- It inflates automatically every 15-30 minutes during the day and every 30-60 minutes at night.
- After 24 hours, you return the device to the clinic, where the data is downloaded and analyzed.
